Rig Veda – Mandal-1. Sukta-1

Verse-1
We pray the Agni Dev, who is the priest, the minister of sacrifice, who leads our deeds, wo donates us, who helps us to perform our deeds, who helps us to reach other Devatas, who enlightens us with truth.
Verse-2
This Agni Dev has been praised by the earlier rishis, and will be praised by the rishis to come (meaning, agni or fire will always remain helpful to us.)
Verse-3
Agni gives us many wealth, preserves our and our childrens’ life
Verse-4
Agni helps us to survive. Non violance nature of fire is the only force that helps us to progress
Verse-5
Agni is a symbol of knowledge, truth and purity
Verse-6
What ever we offer to Agni, the benefit of the same is returned to us by him.
Verse-7
The seers promise to preserve the fire, and prays to get the nin-violant formof fire always. (means they promise to use the fire for non-violant purposes only)
Verse-8
The seers recite that they came together to arrange a yagnya, and prays for the fire to be helpful to them
Verse-9
As a father gets a child with out pain, may we be able to get benefits of fire with out pain.
This is the first sukta of Rig Veda, also known as Agni Sukta.
